Director, Compound Development Team Leader - Oncology

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Director and Compound Development Team Leader for oncology in Beerse, Belgium. This role provides strategic leadership to cross-functional development teams, driving compound strategy execution and lifecycle value maximization while managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder alignment across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead compound development strategy development and execution in partnership with project managers and line functions
• Build and manage cross-functional compound development team effectiveness and alignment on shared goals
• Identify risks and lead contingency planning and problem-solving across development stages
• Resolve conflicts and drive decision-making across internal committees and alliance partnerships
• Communicate strategy, issues, and plans to senior leadership, stakeholders, and alliance partners

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with 8–10 years leadership experience in pharmaceutical research; or Master's degree with 10–12 years equivalent experience
• Demonstrated expertise across the full drug development lifecycle from discovery through clinical phases
• Proven ability to lead clinical development programs in oncology or relevant therapeutic area
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and matrix organization experience with interdisciplinary teams
• Track record of managing budgets and resources, advancing projects from discovery through Phase 2b
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with focus on delivering results in matrix environments
• Business acumen and focus on optimizing resource allocation and project timelines
