Facility Security Officer (FSO)

To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Belgian Facility Security Officer (FSO) who will ensure compliance with Belgian, NATO and international security requirements while supporting the recruitment, onboarding and administration of cleared personnel.

The Role

As Belgian Facility Security Officer, you will be responsible for managing all personnel and facility security matters required to recruit, onboard and support candidates working on classified NATO programmes.

You will act as the primary point of contact with the Belgian National Security Authority (NSA) and coordinate security clearance administration, Requests for Visit (RFVs), classified onboarding activities and compliance with NATO security regulations.

The role combines regulatory compliance with practical support to our recruitment and operations teams, ensuring that candidates can quickly and compliantly start work on classified projects.

Key Responsibilities

Personnel Security

• Manage security clearance applications, transfers and renewals through the Belgian Habil+ platform.
  
• Coordinate with the Belgian NSA and foreign National Security Authorities.
  
• Verify personnel security eligibility for classified assignments.
  
• Maintain personnel security records and clearance administration.
  
• Conduct security briefings and debriefings.
  
• Advise candidates throughout the security clearance process.

Recruitment Security Support

• Support recruitment teams during the onboarding of cleared candidates.
  
• Coordinate security requirements for candidates joining NATO-related programmes.
  
• Verify compliance with contractual security requirements before deployment.
  
• Liaise with programme security representatives where required.

Requests for Visit (RFVs)

• Prepare, submit and monitor national and international Requests for Visit.
  
• Coordinate access requirements for classified meetings and facilities.
  
• Maintain RFV records and supporting documentation.

Facility Security

• Maintain the company's Facility Security Clearance.
  
• Ensure compliance with Belgian and NATO security regulations.
  
• Maintain company security procedures.
  
• Manage classified information in accordance with applicable regulations.
  
• Support security inspections and audits.
  
• Report and investigate security incidents where required.

Regulatory Liaison

• Serve as McBride International's principal interface with the Belgian National Security Authority.
  
• Coordinate with NATO and allied National Security Authorities on personnel security matters.
  
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting security compliance.

Administrative Tasks

• Manage the office space and work with the property manager
  
• Support local Belgian requirements for the business
  
• Liaise with local Belgian businesses
  

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Active NATO Secret Personnel Security Clearance.
  
• Resident in Belgium.
  
• High degree of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
  
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and manage confidential information.
  

Desired Qualifications

• Experience as a Facility Security Officer or Security Officer.
  
• Experience using the Belgian Habil+ platform.
  
• Familiarity with Belgian National Security Authority procedures.
  
• Knowledge of NATO security regulations.
  
• Experience with Requests for Visit (RFVs).
  
• Experience supporting defence contractors or classified projects.
  
• Knowledge of facility and personnel security administration.
  
• Experience working in an international environment.
  
• Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch and/or French are considered an advantage.
