R&D Science and Nutrition Manager

Your Mission

As R&D Science and Nutrition Manager , you play an important role in translating scientific nutrition knowledge into practical insights that support healthier and more nutritious bakery, patisserie and chocolate solutions. You monitor emerging science, nutrition trends and ingredient developments and turn them into clear recommendations for innovation, business and customer-facing teams. By connecting scientific expertise with market understanding, you help Puratos make informed choices on topics such as sugar reduction, fat replacement, nutritional improvement and health-related claims . You contribute to building credible, science-based solutions while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

What you will do 

• Search, analyze and translate scientific literature on nutrition, metabolism, health trends and ingredient innovation into clear insights for R&D, Business Units and countries.
• Monitor emerging developments in science and nutrition, including start-ups, suppliers, market trends and external networks, to identify relevant innovation opportunities.
• Support innovation and reformulation projects by advising on nutritional strategies such as sugar reduction, fiber enrichment, fat replacement and other Health & Wellbeing priorities.
• Suggest solutions that could lead to nutritional and health-related claims based on scientific evidence and support the accuracy of nutritional content in recipe and product information.
• Translate complex scientific information into simple, business-relevant messages for internal stakeholders, sales teams, Business Development, countries and customers.
• Prepare scientific papers, white papers, position papers and training materials to strengthen nutritional literacy and support science-based decision-making across the organization.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders , including suppliers, innovation teams, Business Units and customer-facing teams, to deliver practical solutions that meet customer and business needs .

Who are we looking for?

• You hold a Master’s degree in Bio-Engineering, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology, Nutrition Science or a related scientific discipline, ideally with a strong food technology foundation.
• You have around 5 years of relevant experience in R&D, food science, nutrition, ingredient innovation or a related field, preferably in the food industry or with exposure to bakery, patisserie or chocolate applications.
• You combine a solid scientific background with the ability to understand business priorities and translate scientific insights into practical recommendations.
• You are curious and proactive, with the ability to capture new scientific developments , analyze markets and identify where Puratos should build additional knowledge or capabilities.
• You communicate clearly and convincingly, both verbally and in writing, and can adapt your message to scientific, business-minded and customer-facing audiences.
• You are collaborative, self-reliant and resilient, able to build trust across teams and work constructively with stakeholders with different points of view.

• You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch, French or other languages is an asset.
