You are responsible for the file management of research projects. You monitor costs and performance, from the signing of the agreement to the final reporting. Your analyzes and advices are invaluable to our project leaders.

From a central supporting role, you provide advice to project leaders of R&D projects. Together with a colleague you are responsible for the financial management of the projects. In consultation with project managers, you analyze the progress reports according to budget, monitor the correct application of reporting guidelines and suggest actions for improvement. In addition, you will work together in the team to ensure the proper functioning and control of our research activities.

Job description

You start in a challenging knowledge job in controlling, in which you will initially learn the operation of a research center as well as the outlines of project financing through... learn about subsidies. You study and monitor the financial administrative guidelines of the subsidizing authorities.

You are fascinated by the rules surrounding project credits and, together with a colleague, you draw up the rules regarding expenditures in accordance with the underlying contracts. You jointly guarantee quality periodic financial reporting and supervise the audits of the supervisory authority.

Responsibilities

You draw up analyzes for the interim follow-up of research projects;
You maintain an overview and adjust costs with a coaching attitude; You provide others with insight into the conditions regarding the relevant financing model; In this way, together we guarantee correct and optimal expenditure of resources, and finally successful reporting of the research projects.
You also like to maintain your program technical knowledge about the financing models of the Flemish, Federal, European and international governments, institutions or companies;
You prepare audits that are regularly held by subsidizing bodies;
You are a sparring partner for the project leaders, who they can contact with their financial questions.
You determine the realized project turnover every month and are the point of contact for our company auditor in the context of the annual statutory audit.
You propose optimisations where possible and strive for automation.

Profile

You are customer-oriented and a strong communicator;
You have a very good language skills both in Dutch and in English.
You have strong analytical skills and a critical mind;
You enjoy working in Excel to gain insights from financial data;
You can present at least a bachelor’s degree in economics, business management or accounting;
Financial background and/or controlling experience;
You like to work in a planned and focused manner;
You also get job satisfaction from variety of tasks;
Accuracy comes natural to you as you have an eye for detail.
