IT Helpdesk Specialist

The ICT team of the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research (IRC) in Zwijnaarde is looking for a motivated and service-oriented IT Helpdesk Professional .

Working closely with the five other members of our IT team, you will play a key role in supporting more than 500 logistical, administrative, and scientific staff members. Providing local and remote IT support

Managing user accounts

You will also contribute to the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, including:
Physical and virtual servers

Software:
Backend systems (Linux)

Frontend deployments (Windows – Linux – macOS)

A genuine passion for all things ICT

Practical experience with key technical aspects of Windows (installation, software management, registry, etc.)

A degree in computer science or equivalent experience gained professionally or through personal projects
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Familiarity with PC hardware architecture for day-to-day maintenance

Experience with Linux is a strong advantage
