Associate/Vice President Specialised Lending Transaction Management (Project Finance)

You will work in the Specialised Lending Transaction Management (TM) team based in Brussels. The team aims at providing bespoke lending solutions to domestic and international clients active in key sectors such as Real Estate, Energy and Infrastructure. Proposed lending solutions can include acquisition financing, traditional project financing and portfolio/fund financing structures.

The Specialised Lending TM team is part of a global Specialised Lending franchise that aims at executing lending opportunities originated in collaboration with the Sectors team. Energy clients include oil & gas companies (upstream, mid & downstream), utilities (electricity and gas), renewables as well as investors in new energy projects (Hydrogen, Battery Energy Storage Systems). Infrastructure clients include infrastructure funds, as well as infrastructure companies (e.g. airports, regulated utilities), and contractors active in infrastructure projects.

The position involves contacts with domestic and international clients, banks and advisors as well as cooperation with internal teams such as Sectors, Lending, Loan Distribution Group, Risk, Legal, and other support functions. You will liaise with ING teams both in Belgium and across the world.

You will become a full team member within the Specialised Lending TM team. The role includes a.o.:

• Assist with origination and execution of new lending transactions

• Participate in client and bank calls/meetings

• Draft new business credit proposals, including reviewing due diligence materials

• Run sensitivity analysis on complex financial models and occasionally develop our own models, taking into account ING’s risk appetite and policies

• Review term sheets and legal documentation

• Perform lending administration tasks primarily through timely, complete and correct data input and data management in the relevant support systems in line with internal procedures and guidelines

• Side projects such as internal reporting and business development

• Contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration, and high performance.

• Contribute to ING’s lending expertise and excellence, sharing insights and best practices across the lending platform, and to ING’s strategic initiatives.

As an Associate/Vice President, we expect you to:

• Have a university degree in a relevant business discipline.

• Have minimum 2 years (Associate) or 4 years (Vice President) of relevant working experience in the European energy or infrastructure market and/or project/acquisition finance

• Show strong financial and credit analysis/modelling capabilities

• Show strong analytical skills, rigor in analysis, accuracy and attention to detail

• Be able to work independently on various transactions/projects at the same time, often under pressure, and to prioritize resources accordingly

• Have knowledge of legal (loan) documentation

• Display excellent presentation and communication skills

• Be a committed and dedicated person who wants to continuously improve and share knowledge with colleagues

• Be fluent in English. French/Dutch is an advantage

The Team

The Specialised Lending (TM) team is responsible for the origination and execution of lending transactions for Wholesale Banking clients. This includes project financing, acquisition financing or portfolio/fund financing for a wide range of specific sectors including Real Estate, Energy and Infrastructure. It covers all activities between the initial discussions/request from the client and the signing/closing of the lending transaction. As a front office department, the Specialised Lending TM team closely collaborates with (i) external stakeholders, both in Belgium and abroad, including clients, other banks, financial advisors and legal advisors, as well as (ii) internal stakeholders including Sectors, Lending, Loan Distribution Group, Risk, Legal, and other support functions. The team currently comprises 5 people, with 3 persons focusing on Energy and Infrastructure transactions.
