About CFG

The Centre for Future Generations (CFG) is an independent think-and-do tank created to help decision-makers anticipate and govern rapid technological change. We are here to make sure that emerging technologies are used in the best interests of humanity.

Our team supplies rigorous, independent, policy-oriented research and analysis that connects the dots between emerging technologies and the principles of good governance. We see ourselves as advocates for future generations.

Every CFG publication becomes a campaign: a plan for getting our research in front of the policymakers, journalists and experts who shape decisions on emerging technologies. We want to plan those campaigns better and evaluate them honestly, and this role gives us the muscle to do both.

As our Data and Campaigns Intern, you'll help plan campaigns around our research, build the evaluation that tells us what landed, and keep the contact data underneath it all in good shape. You'll see how a policy organisation turns a report into months of engagement, and you'll build the evidence that shows whether it worked.

You will make an impact by

Evaluation and analytics

• Help design and run evaluations for our campaigns: what we wanted to happen, what did, and what we'd change next time.
• Set up dashboards and reports on how our campaigns and channels perform.
• Pull together data for quarterly reporting to our leadership team, and turn patterns in the numbers into practical suggestions.

Campaign planning and support

• Support the planning of campaigns around CFG publications, from setting objectives through to launch and follow-up.
• Draft content for our channels, including newsletters, social media and the CFG website.
• Coordinate with colleagues across research teams to keep campaign plans on track.

Data and CRM

• Help maintain our CRM, keeping contact records accurate, complete and up to date.
• Log engagement across events, briefings, media and digital channels so we know who we're reaching and how often.
• Support colleagues across the organisation in adopting good data habits.

What you will need to succeed in this role


Skills and attributes

• Evaluative thinking - You ask "did it work?" and "how would we know?" instinctively, and you're honest about the answer either way.
• Data literacy - Comfortable working in spreadsheets and picking up new tools like CRMs and analytics platforms. You don't need to code, though it never hurts.
• Attention to detail - Clean, reliable data is the foundation of everything above. You notice when something looks off.
• Clear writing - Able to summarise findings and draft campaign content in plain, engaging English.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm - A proactive, inquisitive mindset and genuine interest in emerging tech and its societal implications.

Qualifications

• This is an entry-level internship for a motivated graduate.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree, ideally in Communications, Marketing, Political or Social Sciences, Data or a related subject.
• Native-level fluency in written and spoken English. Additional languages are positive but not required.

The essentials

• Paid internship of up to six months under Belgium's professional immersion scheme (CIP), with a monthly allowance set at half the guaranteed minimum income - currently around €1,100 for a full-time placement, pro rata for part-time. Depending on your situation, the allowance may be partially combinable with unemployment benefits.
• Based at our office in Brussels. Applicants must be eligible to undertake an internship in Belgium.
• Start date: subject to approval of the internship agreement by Bruxelles Formation.
• You will be mentored by and work closely with Philipp Kienumund, Senior Communications Manager, following a structured training plan.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

1. Tell us about something you've read, watched or listened to in the past year about technology that changed your mind. How does that inform your interest in CFG?
2. How do you use AI tools in your own work, and where do you not trust them?
3. CFG publishes a major report. Six months later, someone asks whether the campaign around it worked. Name three things you'd look at to answer that question, and one thing you wouldn't bother measuring. Explain your reasoning.
