ABOUT THE CHALLENGE  

Calling all young superheroes of the digital age! Join the Toreon traineeship for an action-packed learning journey  and grow into a penetration testing consultant who helps organizations uncover and understand their security vulnerabilities.  

During this traineeship, you will join a committed security team of Toreonites that works with great enthusiasm on a wide range of penetration testing projects, including web application, mobile, API and AI penetration testing.  

You will learn how to identify vulnerabilities in applications, networks, systems and digital environments, and how to report them clearly to clients at both technical and management level. Delivering quality is key: you will work together with experienced colleagues, receive feedback on your work and gradually learn how to perform quality assurance on penetration testing reports.  

As you grow, you will dive into different domains of ethical hacking. You will explore web application vulnerabilities and learn how to use relevant tools and methodologies. You will also discover mobile and API security, and keep an eye on emerging domains such as AI security.  

In the time that is left, you will have the opportunity to do research, follow trends in cybersecurity and investigate vulnerabilities, exploits and CVEs in public code bases.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS  

• You are hungry for knowledge and have a strong interest in penetration testing and cybersecurity. You already have basic knowledge of - or a strong motivation to learn topics and tools such as web application -, mobile -, AI and API penetration testing. What matters most is that you are curious, analytical and motivated to learn how to investigate security issues in a structured way.  

• You care about quality and take pride in your work. You dare to ask questions, ask for feedback and work on your blind spots.  

• You have a constant desire to stay up to date within cybersecurity and are motivated to grow your knowledge step by step.  

• You are a positive team player but are also able to work independently and to deliver results.  

• You like interacting with others and are willing to present your work in a clear and professional way, both to technical audiences and business stakeholders.  

• You are living in Belgium. You speak and write fluently in Dutch, and you can speak and write English professionally. Good knowledge of French is a bonus.  

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS  

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, computer science, engineering or a related technical field — or equivalent knowledge and motivation.  

  Certifications are not required to start the traineeship, but a strong interest in certifications such as BSCP or similar offensive security tracks is a plus.
