Our Offer

We are currently looking for three proactive and committed interns (m/f/d) to join the EU Division and Representation Brussels - GIZ's central interface with the European Union.
You will contribute to the work of all three teams within the EU Division: Policy & Partnership Management, Key Account Management, and Administration & Events. This will give you broad insights into GIZ's cooperation with the European Union, including policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement, co-financing arrangements, knowledge management, and event organisation. Throughout the internship, your mix of tasks may evolve in line with your interests, strengths, and operational needs.

Your tasks

During your internship you have the following tasks.:

• Develop your understanding of EU decision-making processes by monitoring and analysing developments within the European institutions, particularly the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European External Action Service (EEAS)
• Strengthen your analytical and networking skills by monitoring relevant events, participating in selected meetings and events, and preparing concise reports and briefings for colleagues
• Refine your audience-focused communication skills by contributing to our bi-weekly newsletter, the GIZ Brussels LinkedIn page, policy briefs, background papers, analyses and reports on topics relevant to GIZ and EU development cooperation
• Enhance your analytical and presentation skills by reviewing information on EU international cooperation and translating complex content into impactful presentations that support decision-making within GIZ
• Gain practical insights into the contractual and procedural aspects of cooperation with the European Union, including the management of collaborations involving multiple implementing organisations
• Build expertise in knowledge management and capacity development by supporting the preparation and delivery of training and exchange formats for GIZ colleagues on cooperation with the European Union
• Develop your coordination and event management skills by contributing to the organisation and implementation of events, including logistics, participant management and on-site support
• Gain insights into the organisational processes that underpin effective international cooperation by supporting office management and reception activities within the division

Your Profile

• Advanced studies (at least fifth semester) or recent graduation in international relations, development cooperation, political science, European studies, law, economics, social sciences, or a comparable field
• Good understanding of EU institutions, policy processes and/or international partnerships and a strong interest in international cooperation and the European Union, demonstrated through academic, professional, volunteer or extracurricular engagement.
• Experience in independently managing tasks and delivering results in academic, professional, volunteer or student-led contexts
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to structure, summarise and present complex information clearly
• Very good command of English (minimum C1) and German (minimum C1); additional EU languages (especially FR and ES) are an asset
• Confidence in working collaboratively in diverse teams while also taking ownership of individual responsibilities
• Advanced digital literacy and strong command of Microsoft 365 applications, including advanced skills in Excel (e.g. formulas, sorting, filtering, pivot tables and data visualisation), Outlook and PowerPoint, and confident use of Teams and SharePoint for collaboration and document management
• Curiosity, initiative and a hands-on approach to tackling new challenges in a dynamic international environment

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
