Our AI-Native Engineering Traineeship is designed for young professionals who want to operate at the intersection of technology, AI and business. This is not a traditional development programme focused on a single technology stack, nor is it a pure AI research or machine learning track.

Instead, you will learn how modern engineers use AI to design, develop, automate and deliver intelligent digital solutions more effectively in an AI-driven world.

It is a hands-on journey towards becoming a modern digital consultant and engineer, capable of designing and delivering real business impact by combining software engineering, AI-enabled workflows and business understanding.

Job Description

As a Young Professional at Sopra Steria, you’re one of us from day one. You’ll learn on the job, contribute to real client environments and grow alongside experienced consultants, architects and engineers.

You will learn how AI is fundamentally reshaping software engineering, product development and digital transformation — and how modern organisations evolve from traditional delivery models towards AI-native ways of working.

Rather than focusing purely on coding, you will learn how to design, orchestrate and integrate intelligent digital solutions in compact multidisciplinary teams focused on outcomes, automation and business value.

Using agile ways of working, you will help customers tackle innovation, transformation and complex business challenges. You’ll contribute to the realization of intelligent digital solutions where AI, automation and modern engineering increasingly come together.

Assignments and learning tracks may include:

• AI-native application engineering
• Agentic workflows & AI orchestration
• Modern application development
• Cloud-native development
• System integration & APIs
• Automation & intelligent process flows
• Functional and technical analysis
• DevOps & platform thinking
• Agile product delivery
• AI-enabled business problem solving

Alongside technical expertise, you’ll also strengthen essential consulting and collaboration skills such as communication, stakeholder interaction, teamwork, critical thinking, feedback culture and ownership.

You’ll follow a comprehensive training programme and will be guided throughout your journey by experienced colleagues, your dedicated people manager and the Sopra Steria Academy.

You are someone who:

• Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Has a strong interest in software engineering, AI and emerging technologies
• Is curious about the future of AI-native product development and intelligent automation
• Enjoys solving business and technical challenges together with others
• Combines analytical thinking with a pragmatic and hands-on mindset
• Has an eagerness to continuously learn and evolve quickly
• Feels comfortable navigating both technical and business discussions
• Communicates fluently in Dutch or French and has a professional knowledge of English

Knowledge or affinity with one or more of the following is considered a plus:

• Java or .NET
• Cloud platforms
• DevOps
• Data & AI tooling
• API & integration concepts
• Frontend or full-stack development
• Automation frameworks
• Agile methodologies
