As Legal Counsel for Belgium, you act as the primary legal point of contact for the Belgian business and play a key role in supporting its growth. You combine operational excellence and strategic thinking, providing pragmatic legal advice closely aligned with business objectives. You operate with a high level of autonomy, while collaborating with Group stakeholders and external counsel when needed.

Beyond traditional legal work, you actively contribute to structuring, digitizing and optimizing legal processes, and play a role in the adoption of technology and AI within the legal function.

How you’ll Make an Impact

Business Partnering & Legal Advisory

- Act as a trusted advisor to management and business teams;

- Support commercial activities by advising on contractual, corporate, public and civil law matters;

- Provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal guidance aligned with business needs;

- Ensure legal risks are clearly identified and appropriately mitigated;

Contract Management

- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts (clients, suppliers, partners);

- Manage the full contract lifecycle;

- Contribute to the development of contract templates and playbooks;

- Support complex and strategic negotiations;

Employment & Social Law

- Provide legal support to HR on Belgian employment law matters;

- Assist in the rollout of HR projects (policies, restructurings, disciplinary matters);

- Monitor and anticipate legal developments in social law;

Compliance & Governance

- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies;

- Support the implementation and monitoring of compliance programs (e.g. data protection, ethics, anti-corruption);

- Contribute to corporate governance matters;

Litigation & External Counsel Management

- Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters;

- Coordinate with external lawyers and ensure cost-effective handling of disputes;

Legal Operations & Process Improvement

- Structure and improve internal legal processes and tools;

- Develop practical guidelines, templates and training materials;

- Contribute to the professionalization of the legal function;

Legal Tech & Innovation

- Demonstrate a strong interest in legal technology and artificial intelligence;

- Identify opportunities to automate, optimize and digitalize legal workflows;

- Participate in or lead initiatives related to AI governance and responsible AI use;

- Act as a bridge between legal and technology teams on AI-related matters;

What You Bring

Must-have

- Master’s degree in Law;

- At least 3–6 years of experience as Legal Counsel or Lawyer;

- Strong knowledge of Belgian law (contract law, corporate law, ideally social law);

- Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a strong asset;

- Strong business acumen and ability to understand operational challenges;

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;

- High level of autonomy, ownership and accountability;

- Analytical mindset with a solution-driven approach;

Nice-to-have

- Experience in a fast-growing or international environment;

- Exposure to technology, IT services, or consulting sectors;

- Interest or experience in legal tech and AI tools;

- Experience working as sole counsel or in a highly autonomous role;
