For a strategic program with a multiple stakeholders, our client (a leading telecom company in Belgium) is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Solution Architect who is passionate about technology and bringing the right people together

role of this position :

A Solution Architect defines an end-to-end architecture for the initiatives defined within a tribe. He/she assists the Tribe Leads & Product Owners by working out (technical) alternatives to realize the goals linked to these initiatives, validating the business hypothesis, etc. He/she concretizes the impact of choosing each of the proposed options and questions business needs where necessary.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

1. Defines end-to-end architecture for an initiative. Works with other architects and with business stakeholders, the operational teams and vendors to develop a supported solution that promotes reuse and cross-tribe alignment.

2. Advises the Tribe Lead and Product Owners on how best to realize an initiative or epic, from a technical perspective. Helps technically develop an MVP scope and provide a scale-up plan to achieve a mature, maintainable solution.

3. Works out different technical alternatives and clarifies the consequences of a given choice, both in terms of delivery time, cost and maintainability but also in terms of functionality & impact on the business process.

4. Refines the architecture at epic level: Validates epics against the definition of done and takes care of the further elaboration of these epics, among other things with a view to ensuring the non-functional requirements.

5. Develops an enterprise-wide long-term vision of the future of an application and system domain. Defines what capabilities are needed, which applications can deliver them, and to what extent modernization or rationalization is required. Translates this vision into a concrete plan in the form of an Architectural Runway.

6. Tracks technical developments and innovation in order to frame the impact of these developments on the Telenet application and system landscape to Tribe Leads and Product Owners.

Business Experience:

Describe the need for knowledge and expertise on how different parts of the organization work together to achieve business objectives.

Explain the required level of understanding of competitors' operations, commercial environment and products and services.

Possesses proven analytical skills and architectural understanding to make decisions based on hard and soft information.

Possesses technical and functional knowledge regarding relevant technology, as well as applications and systems relevant within the Tribe.

Maintains and broadens this knowledge to make relevant trade-offs regarding the deployment of particular technologies.

Excels at communicating technically sound proposals and opinions to both technical and business stakeholders.

Identifies and translates (future) business needs into strategic technology roadmaps and architectural principles.

Concretizes these roadmaps and principles into an Architectural Runway that considers planning aspects in addition to the capabilities to be built and their dependencies.

Builds broad support for realizing the Architectural Runway.

Smoothly uses standard techniques (e.g. TOGAF methodology, SWOT analysis & the Zachman framework, Archimate modeling), relevant industry standards (e.g. DOCSIS, 3GPP & IETF) and technical models (e.g. Archimate, TMForum eTOM & SID), as well as proprietary models and concepts to efficiently communicate the chosen solutions.

Works out (alternative) architectural solutions for the technical realization of (cross-tribe) initiatives.

Analyzes new/innovative developments in the field of IT technology and evaluates them for their applicability to the client's business.

Clarifies IT technolgical trade offs to the tribe lead and clarifies choice and prioritization (cross tribe).

Monitors reusability of solutions worked out within one tribe, to avoid development of duplicate capabilities spread across different tribes.

Ensures that proposed solutions are aligned with the predetermined application domain vision and Architectural Runway.

Identifies and manages the technical debt introduced and balances this cost towards maintainability versus the benefits of faster Time to Market and launching an MVP.

Defines the MVP & scale-up within the framework of the application domain vision and architectural principles.

Establishes systems that allow to inventory and document the business processes used as well as the underlying capabilities, applications, technology & the data exchanged and collected with them.

Longue terme assignment : We are open to consider freelance (with a daily rate) or permanent position opening (with monthly salary)
