(Medior) SCADA Migration & Quality Engineer

You know how a failure to ensure the integrity of real-time monitoring and control of the high-voltage grid during a critical system migration would expose the entire electricity supply chain to operational disruptions and jeopardize the digital readiness of national infrastructure. Especially in the context of upgrading the most critical system used to operate the high-voltage grid, where seamless synchronization between the legacy software version and the new version is essential across all project phases, involving close collaboration between internal engineering teams and an external supplier, in a regulated and security-sensitive environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As one of our Project Partners, your objective is to ensure the smooth migration of the Energy Management System (EMS) from the current software version to the new version while maintaining the highest quality standards across all project phases up to commissioning.

Key responsibilities might include:

• Ensure synchronization between the current EMS version (Network Manager 9.2) and the new version (Network Manager 10) across different project phases.
• Analyze and/or develop supporting tools (in SQL, Python, and other languages) for EMS database data entry.
• Actively support fellow engineers in writing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code by sharing best practices, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with operational database management teams to test the new user interface for database maintenance.
• Ensure integrity of software services and their migration.
• Update quality control scripts used by the operational maintenance team and develop new quality controls aligned with the new software capabilities.
• Document tests, migration procedures, new operational procedures, and new templates for database maintenance.
• Ensure knowledge transfer of the new software to users (mainly Front Office database maintenance).
• Participate in the different testing phases of the project up to its commissioning.

Profile:

• Degree or demonstrable experience in software development.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably GIT.
• Experience working in an Agile team, including participation in sprint reviews, grooming, and daily standups.
• Experience with Python or other programming languages.
• Knowledge of energy, electricity, or electromechanics is a plus.
• Able to follow conversations in French and Dutch. Proficiency in English is essential.
• Able to work independently, conduct research autonomously, and ask questions when needed.
• Detail-oriented and adheres to standards.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of the energy transmission sector is a plus.
• An entrepreneurial experience or ambition is a plus (extra-professional or extra-academic as well).
• Fast availability is preferred.
