Software Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of high-quality software projects and coordinate with teammates and stakeholders on timelines.
• Contribute across product specification, implementation, code review, QA testing, deployment, and operations.
• Build intuitive and deep user experiences for all phases of the private markets investment process.
• Seek context, iterate rapidly, reduce ambiguity, and drive projects forward.
• Participate in engineering recruiting through interviewing, problem specification, and role ownership.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and management stakeholders to unblock progress.

Requirements

• A four-year technical degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating that a degree was not needed.
• At least six years of hands-on software development experience with a strong emphasis on individual contribution.
• Background or demonstrated interest in investment management, fintech, or financial data.
• Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, and SQL, with familiarity with TypeScript, React, and AWS.
• Strong understanding of distributed-systems tradeoffs, data modeling, API design, and performance tuning at scale.
• Deep understanding of testing and delivery practices, including pytest and CI/CD.
• Experience applying AI and LLMs to data extraction, data interrogation, and document generation.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguity and communicate clearly in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Authorization to work for any U.S. employer without current or future sponsorship.
