(Senior) Scientist in Precipitation & Particle Design (temp role)

Johnson & Johnson seeks a scientist to design and engineer particle attributes of peptides and active pharmaceutical ingredients through crystallization and precipitation research. Based in Beerse, Belgium, the role involves developing scalable processes and applying advanced analytical techniques within the Crystallization Technology Unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory research on controlled precipitation and isolation procedures for amorphous APIs
- Design and optimize particle engineering strategies to achieve target API characteristics including size distribution and morphology
- Develop mechanistic understanding through data-rich experimentation, process analytics, and scientific modeling
- Evaluate impact of process parameters on precipitation behavior, particle properties, and downstream performance
- Apply advanced analytical techniques and PAT tools to guide research and inform process development
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Materials Science
- Strong understanding of amorphous properties, precipitation principles, and processing-to-attribute relationships
- Demonstrated hands-on laboratory expertise in designing and executing data-rich experiments
- Experience generating high-quality experimental data to support process understanding and scale-up decisions
- Excellent scientific communication skills in English, verbal and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, dynamic team environments
