Privacy Legal Counsel

Medtronic seeks a Privacy Legal Counsel to provide expert legal guidance on data protection and privacy matters across the EMEA region. The role involves advising stakeholders on regulatory compliance, including GDPR and emerging frameworks, while supporting digital health, AI initiatives, and cross-border data transfers within a global healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Advise business and functional stakeholders on privacy, data protection, and regulatory requirements across EMEA
- Monitor and interpret evolving legal and regulatory developments including GDPR, UK GDPR, and ePrivacy frameworks
- Provide legal guidance on digital health solutions, artificial intelligence initiatives, data governance, and product development
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related agreements including data processing and transfer agreements
- Support privacy risk assessments, compliance reviews, incident investigations, and regulatory notification assessments
Requirements
- Law degree with 4+ years legal counsel experience, or advanced law degree with 2+ years in data protection and privacy
- Demonstrated experience providing legal advice on data protection in large, matrixed organizations
- Comprehensive knowledge of EMEA privacy regulations including GDPR and UK GDPR
- Proficiency drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and data-related agreements
- Professional fluency in English, written and verbal
- Qualification as legal counsel in relevant jurisdiction (preferred)
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, medical technology, or regulated industries (preferred)
