Sr Scientist Biostatistics

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Scientist in Biostatistics and AI to develop trustworthy, validated AI-enabled statistical solutions for pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. The role combines rigorous statistical thinking with expertise in modern AI technologies, working across biostatistics, artificial intelligence, and scientific software development in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy AI-enabled scientific applications integrating statistical methods, machine learning, and domain knowledge
• Ensure statistical integrity of AI solutions, managing variability, uncertainty, and confounding factors appropriately
• Build Python services and connect statistical tools through APIs and Model Context Protocol interfaces
• Design agentic workflows that retrieve evidence, invoke scientific models, and support interpretation with human review
• Mentor statisticians and scientists in effective application of AI, machine learning, and modern computational methods

Requirements

• PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related quantitative field; Master's with commensurate experience acceptable
• Strong foundations in statistical inference, predictive modelling, and study design
• Experience assessing uncertainty, bias, overfitting, and model generalizability
• Proficiency in R and/or Python for statistical analysis
• Expertise with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows
• Fluent English communication and ability to collaborate across scientific and technical disciplines
