VAT & Customs Junior Consultant (2026) - Startersfunctie Junior

After your start-up and training period, you will join a team of seasoned professionals who advise business managers and financial management on their VAT & Customs policies.

 

More specifically, you’ll:

• Advise clients on VAT, customs and excise-related issues, both in a national and international context

• Consult with our organisation's specialists in subfields of taxation to provide clients with optimal advice

• Work on files in close collaboration with company auditors and accountants

• Contribute to the development and optimisation of existing client relationships

• Offer business managers and financial management pragmatic advice on the tax and legal aspects of their policies, taking a proactive, highly engaged approach

• Get involved in customs screenings at logistic service providers and customs representatives.

• Assist during in-company client training organised by BDO Customs Academy.

 

As a Tax consultant, you keep close track of all the latest tax news to be able to ensure optimally efficient operations at all times. Thanks to our BDO Academy, you can continue developing your professional knowledge, supplemented by external training opportunities.

• You insist on accuracy and love diving into all the details.

• You are happy to take the initiative and present new ideas, but also receptive to your colleagues' points of view. You keep them informed and team spirit is the way to go for you.

• Juggling multiple deadlines during busy VAT return periods or dealing with several different files on the same day? You mastered the required flexibility long ago.

• Stress? What’s that? You are good at setting priorities and delivering work on time is not a problem for you.

• You always stay up to date on the latest tax developments. You enjoy learning new things and attending seminars, conferences and events.

• The training courses by BDO Customs Academy are approved by official customs authorities. This gives you the possibility to follow tailor-made training courses. Knowledge of customs is consequently not required, a healthy interest in this topic is of course.

• BDO Customs Academy regularly organises training moments for external customs managers. You'll also be able to attend these sessions.

• You have a Master’s degree or already have previous (internship) experience.

• You write and speak Dutch fluently and also have proficiency in French and English.

• Start in a general position and discover which types of clients, duties or specialisations suit you best. After the starters days, you will build your own career along with your other new colleagues.
