About CFG

The Centre for Future Generations (CFG) is an independent think-and-do tank created to help decision-makers anticipate and govern rapid technological change. We are here to make sure that emerging technologies are used in the best interests of humanity.

Our team supplies rigorous, independent, policy-oriented research and analysis that connects the dots between emerging technologies and the principles of good governance. We see ourselves as advocates for future generations.

The people working on emerging technology governance in Europe form a young and scattered ecosystem: researchers, advocates, policymakers and funders spread across dozens of organisations. CFG convenes that community. We host the rooms where it meets, we belong to several of its coalitions, and our events have built a reputation of their own in Brussels, with 1,290 registered guests in 2025 and more than 250 people at our flagship Think & Do gathering.

As our Events and Community Intern, you'll help us run the events that bring this community together, and help us do the quieter work between them: connecting people and strengthening the networks the field runs on.

You will make an impact by

Events planning and delivery

• Support the planning and delivery of CFG events, from intimate policy roundtables to large public gatherings.
• Manage event logistics, including venues, suppliers, invitations, registration and on-the-day coordination.
• Prepare event materials such as agendas, name badges, signage and briefing notes.

Community and network building

• Help map the organisations and people working on technology governance in Europe, and spot where CFG can usefully connect them.
• Support follow-up after events, including thank-you notes, summaries and introductions between guests and CFG experts.
• Help maintain and grow our contact database, keeping records of who attends, who engages and who we should invite next.

Coalition support

• Support CFG's participation in the coalitions and networks we belong to, including preparing for meetings, taking notes and tracking follow-up actions.
• Help coordinate joint activities with peer organisations, from co-hosted events to shared communications.
• Monitor what's happening across the wider field and flag developments relevant to our work.

What you will need to succeed in this role


Skills and attributes

• People skills - Warm, professional and at ease talking to guests, from students to senior policymakers. You enjoy making introductions and helping people find each other.
• Organisation - Comfortable juggling several events and workstreams at different stages, keeping track of details, and meeting deadlines.
• Clear writing - Able to draft invitations, meeting summaries and follow-up messages that people read.
• Calm under pressure - Events rarely go exactly to plan. You adapt and keep things running.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm - A genuine interest in emerging technologies and the community of people working to govern them.

Qualifications

• This is an entry-level internship for a motivated graduate.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in any subject; event, community or membership experience (paid or voluntary) is a plus.
• Native-level fluency in written and spoken English. Additional languages are positive but not required.

The essentials

• Paid internship of up to six months under Belgium's professional immersion scheme (CIP), with a monthly allowance set at half the guaranteed minimum income - currently around €1,100 for a full-time placement, pro rata for part-time. Depending on your situation, the allowance may be partially combinable with unemployment benefits.
• Based at our office in Brussels. Applicants must be eligible to undertake an internship in Belgium.
• Start date: subject to approval of the internship agreement by Bruxelles Formation.
• You will be mentored by and work closely with Philipp Kienumund, Senior Communications Manager, following a structured training plan.
