Car-T Operations Start-Up Engineer

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Start-Up Engineer to support the operational readiness of a new CAR-T manufacturing facility in Ghent, Belgium. The role involves managing project phases from design through tech transfer, ensuring GMP compliance, and coordinating cross-functional teams to enable commercial production of innovative cell-based cancer therapies.
Responsibilities
- Capture and implement operational user requirements across design, build, qualification, and tech transfer phases
- Support manufacturing design implementation and optimize material flows, utilities, and systems
- Develop and review GMP documentation including protocols, procedures, and batch records
- Facilitate systems and digital integration including MES and SAP deployment for operational efficiency
- Drive cross-functional stakeholder alignment across operations, quality, compliance, and external partners
Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering, bioscience, biochemistry, pharmacy, or related scientific field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing or operations experience
- Project management experience, preferably with formal project frameworks
- Knowledge of GMP regulatory framework including cGMP, ICH, and ATMP regulations
- Familiarity with cell processing, manufacturing automation, or IT systems integration
- Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to changing project requirements
